This total sealing system also allows for a dry ambient pressure chamber which works to prevent freezing, provides better protection and improves performance, ensuring trouble-free operation no matter how cold or murky the water gets.
This new version is more compact than its predecessor yet delivers better breathing performance. Its improved internal design allows more airflow from the LP ports which have also been configured for optimum hose routing. It also offers an external intermediate pressure adjustment that allows technicians to maintain peak performance between service intervals without having to break down the first stage.

Air balanced diaphragm delivers constant and effortless airflow unaffected by depth, tank pressure, or breathing rate. Environmentally sealed system prevents water and pollutants from fouling the inner mechanism. More compact design features a smaller dry ambient pressure chamber and spring, although the bulletproof inner parts remain the same. Dry ambient pressure chamber increases freezing resistance, ensuring consistent airflow in the coldest conditions.
Substantial increase in airflow -- 6900 l/min versus 6500 l/min - includes improved balance of air supply pressure.
Two high pressure and four high-flow ports maximize air delivery and hose routing options.
High-flow performance is available from all four LP ports which are configured for optimum hose routing. External intermediate pressure adjustment enables technicians to fine-tune performance quickly and easily.

Cold Water Diving With SCUBAPRO:
Diving conditions can be drastically different, including extreme cold water and outside temperatures, posing the possibility of a regulator “freezing”. Therefore, resistance to freezing is imperative for the diver. All SCUBAPRO regulator systems are CE approved for 300bar cold water diving. Some models go even beyond this super stringent qualification and have successfully been tested in extreme cold diving conditions at less than 2°C.
As a specific anti-freezing measure, SCUBAPRO engineers have designed a patented finned cap for both the MK17 and the MK25 first stages for optimal cold water diving. The ribs act as a radiator to increase the surface area of heat transfer from the water to warm up the internal parts that have been drastically cooled down by the gas pressure drop.
On the MK17, a dry ambient pressure chamber enhances the resistance to real ice cold water at any depth compared to other dry chamber diaphragm first stages.
For cold water diving, SCUBAPRO’s second stages feature precision moulded carbon fiber and technopolymer valve housing and components. They even exceed the CE cold water norm. In addition, these components contribute to their lightweight features and corrosion resistance.
